Fly tying with Rob Lewis from the Angler’s Den in Pawling, NY. Rob asked me to do a photoshoot for an article he’s been commissioned to do for a nationally known angler’s magazine. Here’s a shot or two, hot off the camera.

I was on the Hudson this weekend for the Quadricentennial of Henry Hudson’s voyage up the North River. We met up with a flotilla of about 175 ships at the Bear Mountain Bridge, but by the time we got to Bannerman’s Island, most had peeled off.

When we got to West Point, there was a cannonade exchange between the replica Half Moon and the US Military Academy. First time ever, I think, that a vessel was invited to aim its guns and shoot at West Point!

Eventually, we got to Newburg where the Half Moon required some assistance docking due to the wind. Sergeant Jon Begor piloted the small Zodiac Boat we were on and pushed the Half Moon into the dock, sideways.

Catamount Ski Area has built an aerial adventure park in the trees on the grounds. The hope to make their park a year round attraction. They will be offering mountain biking as well. We went on Saturday, and grabbed a few shots.
Courses range from easy to diabolical, anywhere from 15 to 75 feet above the ground. Some of the images, with the long depth of field and the wide angle on the lens have an M.C. Escheresque quality.
This is a great place to go, good workout, lots of fun for the family. Kids as young as 8 years old are allowed.

So, the Dance Recital was this weekend. Here are some shots. It’s amazing to me how rude people are, getting up multiple times during a performance just to return to their seat moments later. There’s no reason why they couldn’t wait to move in between numbers. Anyway, enough kvetching. On to the photos! The gallery is here:

I chaperoned my daughter’s 8th grade class trip to Washington, DC a couple weeks ago. Here’s the gallery. WARNING: it’s big, so those on dial-up connections should heat some water for tea while waiting for it to open.

Between the Pawling Fire Department Spaghetti Dinner, and the Pawling Middle School Crazy Cake Auction, there were a lot of carbs going around. And “around” best describes my belly after eating all of these delicious treats! Afterward the spaghetti dinner, Susan and I went over to Fred Feindel’s for a glass of old port. Good stuff!

SHAAAARK!
